Khedarthoor Glacier Tour

Intro

This long, rarely-used route is a picturesque view of the many wonders of the Wakhan Corridor. In a one-week exceptional tour, we are offering a mixture of culture, nature, hiking and activities into the wilderness of the Afghan Himalayan ranges. This summer you are challenged to explore a multi-conditioned weather starting from hot dry days to breezing colds at the foots of +4000 high mountains glaciers.

Itinerary

Start and end in Ishkashim! With the hiking & trekking tour Khedarthoor Trek (7 Days), you have a 7-day tour package taking you through Wakhan, Afghanistan and one other destination here. Khedarthoor Trek (7 Days) includes accommodation in a home stays as well as an expert guide, meals, transport and more.

Day One: (Tajikistan) – Ishkashim (Afghanistan):

Cross into Afghanistan, In and Around Ishkashim walks/hikes. Wakhan Permit & Registration, Afghan Hospitality and meals.

Day Two: Ishkashim – Qala e Panja:

A rough road built by the Soviets takes us into the Wakhan Corridor. This afternoon we’ll reach the former capital of the Wakhan where the spiritual leaders reside and refresh ourselves with a short walk to the ruins of two fortes before settling into our accommodation for the night.

Day Three: Qala e Panja – Deh Ghulaman:

This morning, we’ll drive directly to the village where once every one resided was called the servants of the Wakhan hospitality. The village sits at the foothills of Khedarthoor mountain, perhaps one of the Wakhan’s most photogenic scenery.

Day Four: Deh Ghulaman – Khedarthoor:

After some four hours hiking, we will get to the area around the Lake Khedarthoor: Today will allow us some well-deserved rest-time. Those brave enough can take a swim in the lake while others may wish to wander freely beneath the mountains and enjoy the glacier walks and its breezes.

Day Five: Khedarthoor – Wardif:

Today’s trek gets us back to the bank of the Panj river where vehicles are waiting to take us to Wardif. The scenery of Wardif is simply stunning with a small waterfall that flows into a lake. There is a huge forest with lots of wildlife and immigrant spring/summer birds.  

Day Six: Wardif – Ishkashim:

Today, as we head down through the confluence of the two rivers of Panj and Pamir, the long day drive will take us to Ishkashim. 

Day Seven: Ishkashim – Shughnan:

This morning will drive North to Shughnan District. It is the most domestically visited area of Afghanistan. In the Afternoon we will have a chance to explore the market, the old shrines and meet some locals before a Shughni Cuisine for the night. 

Day Eight: Shughnan to Khorog Tajikistan

Our last day in Afghanistan takes us through panoramic views of both Afghanistan and Tajikistan. This trail ends as we get to the border and cross it in the afternoon of an imaginary day. Now you will be seen off leaving with miraculous tales to tell.
